Humberto Nieves, nicknamed “Tito,” was born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, and lives in New York, where he grew up listening to tropical music, blues, and pop, already knowing he was destined to become a complete singer.
“In 1975, when I was very young, I decided that music was my calling,” explains Tito. “I was full of dreams. I used to look at photos of the Fania All Stars with all those great artists, and all I could think about was how to reach them—how to be close to Tito Puente, Johnny Pacheco, and Celia Cruz.”
